Activist and junta critic Sombat Boonngam-anong at a polling station in 2016 in Bangkok's Khlong Toei district.

BANGKOK — A court on Monday told a pro-democracy activist to appeal against the Election Commission’s refusal to register his political party before seeking a court injunction.

If only he had said he supports the Junta and the General he would have been sweet !

One of his stated policies is to recycle rubbish - which makes him a natural for political office.

My kind of party. Would love to see them in the government, maybe they could do an overseas coalition with Trump.

Appeal to whom?

The EC is supposedly an independent organization. It does not fall under any government ministry nor under the Prime Minister or the NLA. The EC rejected the application  for registration. The end.

Going to the courts for an injunction seems perfectly reasonable and the only appeal route, especially since time is of the essence for registration.

Sombat should petition the Central Administrative Court for an immediate petition. If refused he should then follow further appeal through the court system. Maybe if he makes enough noise the EC will relent and grant registration, ie., upon further "clarification" by Sombat.
