PHUKET: Leading proponents of the electrical vehicle (EV) push in Norway were in Phuket yesterday (May 7) to propose to local officials to start looking toward building the infrastructure required to encourage people to use electric cars on the island.

Sture Portvik, Project Leader E-mobility for Oslo, the electric car capital of Europe, along with Snorre Sletvold, President of the Norwegian electric vehicle association, presented their arguments for a cleaner Phuket to Phuket Governor Norraphat Plodthong at Provincial Hall yesterday afternoon..

Don't know about ev batteries in this climate but I do know my Isuzu batteries last about 3 years if I'm lucky and 10 years in the uk because of the heat.also different situation.norway having nice no real congestion and Phuket having total traffic chaos with hills everywhere.also Norway has electric 24 hrs a day 365 days a year where as phuket, well anyone's guess.anyway the word infrastructure buggers the whole idea up.maybe they could do it when they bury all the cables hanging everywhere.lets not even think how much these vehicles will cost and who will buy them.fuels half the price of the uk and environmental issues which is the real incentive for the change in my old country but you haven't got that here.at least portvik got a jolly holiday out of it.

I have to agree about battery life here! Car batteries as well as lithium ion batteries don’t fair well in this climate!

Proud to be a norwegian.  Save the planet.  But since this is Thailand please restrict the top speed to 30 km/h.

Then we might save some Thais to.

Noggie comes for a 'seminar' (free beach holiday)- Gov seizes on it as another hub.

Phuket- the Hub of Hubs!

Singapore seems enthusiastic for electric cars and their temperature is same or more than Thai. Tessla battery factory is in Nevada, famous for high temperatures, so I expect that they have considered this aspect.
