sbaker8688
I just want to build a single computer for personal use. I plan to do what I do in the states - mail order the parts I want, then build it. Will I be hit with import duties? How does that work? Thanks. georgebkk
FWIW, the last time I did this -- believe it or not -- they dinged me 500B for the CPU (AMD 64). The other parts (HD, Video Card, DDR, etc) were OK. Computer parts (as well as camera equip.) here in Thailand are actually often MORE expensive than in western countries. That, with the rising baht, has made it worthwhile to purchase them over the web from trusted sources and have them shipped, so you get EXACTLY the components you want and still pay less. esprit
I have previously ordered kit from Alderney in the Channel Isles for delivery to BKK. On all occassions I have paid 10% import duty plus 7% VAT regards, Dave
RBWilson
I had to pay duty on a computer related item that I had to send to Singapore for repair (because I failed to file the proper customs paper work prior to sending it there).
