Must We Pass The Pratom 6 Test To Get Residency?

Must we pass the Pratom 6 test to get residency?

What are the benefits of taking the P 6 test?

no.

You just need to answer ten basic mulitple choice questions.

"What colour is the sky"

"How many provinces are there in Thailand"

It has been known for the questions and possible answers to be read out to the applicant.

See Camerata's guide to the PR process in the visas section.

Thanks for the replies,

However, at one time, years ago, was it not required that people wanting to get residency pass the Pratom 6 language test?

Are you confusing residency and citizenship?

Cheers

The rules for citizenship I've translated and posted within the same link I provided above. As I recall, there are no requirements for the Paratom 6 qualificatoin for citizenship.

Mods:- good to move this to Camerata's thread..... all in one place for the benefit of future applicants

Hey skip,

thought about it, but most of this stuff is covered there from memory already.

As far as i know most rules concerning residency are a bit fluid, and depend very much on the category one applies for, and are, depending on connections open to interpretition.

I know several people in high placed positions with very influental connections who went through in a breeze, and have non existent Thai skills, but impressive tax receipts.

When i asked a few years ago, i was openly advised by immigration officers to look for high ranked connections, because in order to apply for a marriage based PM status i could not qualify because me and the wife have never been officially married. The officers said that with the right influental person speaking for me i could overcome that obstacle easily.

Didn't get around it yet though. :o

understand what you are saying, and I guess it does help. Having said that, Camerata was a 'modest' cantidate in comparison and he still got through.

As far as I know, there is nothing to stop you from applying in a business category, even though you are married to a Thai. As long as you qualify for that category that is...

As for having the influential friends, well if you have some, the best way is just to draft a letter for them to sign supporting the application, which friends have done. It helps show standing in the Thai community. But a letter is all you need. So that is for residency.

For the citizenship side of things, the lady at the police headquarters told me that your Thai national supporters will actually have to be available for interview to the panel. So, if you know a minister or a CEO, then they are going to have to take time out, three years hence to be questioned by the selection panel.
