Authorities bust Battambang brothels

Thirty-four people, including four men, were arrested in Battambang province on Monday for alleged involvement in offering illegal prostitution services in their massage shops. Major General Cheth Vanny, cheif of the provincial criminal investigation department, said the arrests came after police raided three massage shops in Battambang city at about 7.30pm on Monday. “They opened the shops to provide massage services in the province but they secretly provided illegal prostitution,” he said.

The arrests were carried out by provincial anti-human trafficking and juvenile protection police, he noted. Of those arrested, four men and two women were shop owners and managers. The others were sex workers. Evidence of prostitution such as a notebook of guests’ having sex, and used and unused condoms were recovered from the shop rooms, he said.
