How's your connectivity and speed? I am in Udon and it's been dire for a couple of days now. The teacup page loading is all I get most times.

Did a speed test on my 3BB service and getting 50/15 on my 50/20 non-fiber 700 baht/month VDSL package.

I've had that for over a year and it does seem markedly slower but there's a house full using the internet here.

I see that VDSL seems to have been replaced by 100/30 fiber for 700 baht/month. Maybe it's time to change up? Up to half a dozen users at the house most hours of the day.

Experiences with changing service after more than 12 months? I've had the current contract for 14 months already.

Thanks!

May I suggest you call 3BB support in Bangkok at 1530. The techs can run a diagnostic test of your line while you wait on the phone.  They might be able to fix your current issue.  I have had 3BB for about 2 years originally 20/4 which was upgraded to 30/10 months later. I called 1530 and asked why I wasn't receiving the new 30/10 package that was priced the same as 20/4.  I gave the tech my account number, he changed some settings told me to turn off and restart my router after 5 minutes. After the restart, my speeds were 32+/12+. I hade never experienced data transfer or video streaming issues, even with 3 users online at the same time. At least 3 times a month I turn off the modem before I go to bed and restart it the next day to clear the cache.

Working fine on 3BB in Jomtien. VDSL 50/20 (with 200B @inter package that is no longer available to new subscribers).

It's working better today but I reckon I have only half the home users since it's a Monday!

I also find it loads faster on Opera than any other browser; skips from the 'teacup timer' to the program menu faster.

Think I'll drop by the 3BB desk tomorrow and see what they can offer.

Replaced the 3BB modem/router with my older TP-Link one and had a few days of overall improvement but went slow again. Swapped back to their ZTE box and even though down/up speeds up again, still crap. Called the 1530 hot line and they checked and said problem at my end and a tech would be assigned. Thirty minutes later, techs on-site and after running around the 'hood, suggest that it would be better to sign-up for the 100/30 fiber service as it's the same price as the currently pokey 50/20 VDSL. Maybe they have hived off a whole lot of low-budget subscribers onto their remaining 30/10 VDSL 590 baht/m service and it's all bottlenecking on the copper wire like in the bad old days of TTT.

I guess sometime in the next couple of days, I will be contributing to the nation's growing unused wire hanging from power poles problem. Since I was here when we had the original TTT internet over the phone installed, at least I know what wires I no longer need coming onto the property!

Now there will be a new fiber optics cable hanging next to your used copper wire....sooner or later all the soi poles are going to collapse under the increasing weight un-used copper wire that is rarely removed combined with the new fiber optic cables.

But hey, once some new internet technology comes out that requires copper wire instead of fiber optics wire Thailand will be ready to go immediately.

Two days after placing the order, the installation guys called to confirm the location and then (I guess) ran the fiber before they showed up about 40 minutes later, ran the fiber into the house and fired up the modem. Nice and fast but noted that there's a 5 Ghz channel in addition to the regular 2.4 GHz one and they had managed to rename them so all the wi-fi users would need the username changed. Since that would be at least a dozen tablets and smartphones over several days, it would be easier to reprogram the 2.4 Ghz to the original username and hide the 5 GHz's SSID. Bit of a bugger trying to log in as the usual 3bb username 'admin' and last 4-digits of MAC address for password didn't work. Then I noticed one of the installers had scribbled a 4-digit number that was one digit different from the MAC address on the box and that worked! I guess someone did a typo when programming the box? Anyway, the new modem/router has an easily configured wi-fi 'curfew' so that will be handy on school nights. There's also a button on the side of the case to disable wi-fi but it looks like the 3BB firmware bypasses that altogether.
