A woman has been arrested for allegedly deceiving hundreds of part-time job seekers via Facebook into losing more than Bt110,000 in total, deputy tourist police chief Pol Maj-General Surachet Hakpal said on Tuesday.

The suspect was identified as Porntip Boonma, 31.

Surachet said Porntip had offered part-time jobs of sorting beads and elastic bands by colour, on condition that each person must first pay a starting fee of Bt200.

She had allegedly received over Bt110,000 from her victims, prior to disappearing and leaving them jobless.

The victims then filed complaints with the police.

Quite clever in a way, setting a start up fee that was low and not a blatant con.

It can be a cruel world. Preying on the impoverished is lower than a snake’s belly.
