I spent some time and investigated this, and here is the problem as I see it, and why I am not going to invest in it.

 

The big advantage that Matrix is claiming is natural language smart contracts, interpreted by AI, thus removing the need for a skilled Solidity programmer to launch your project. This sounds great in theory, but anyone involved in this industry can immediately see the very big problem.

 

Most of the problem with smart contracts is not the contract itself. The problem is that once a contract is written, it can not be modified. So there is a huge amount of effort that goes in at the beginning writing contracts and verifying corner cases to make sure every possible contingency is considered. This results in a very formal, rigid and well documented form for smart contracts that everyone can verify.

 

Imagine now, if you write a contract in natural language, with all of its obvious contextual issues and ambiguity.  This contract can never be modified, and there is no human judge that can decide what the intent of the contract was. So rather than "anyone" writing contracts, it will be a bunch of experts who have experience and learned how to write contracts in specific prose to accommodate the biases of the AI doing the interpretation. This is just the same thing as experienced programmers who have learned the formalities of Solidity, but in a slightly different form.

 

Ultimately, it will almost certainly not deliver on its mandate because the problem is not well posed. It sounds good to the uninitiated, but to anyone who has worked in this space, it is clear the value of this project is questionable at best. Combined with a very long lead time and massive effort to even get to a minimum viable product, Matrix falls flat. It may be a very interesting research project and could ultimately yield some interesting new research paths,  but as a commercially viable solution to a real problem it would appear to be a non starter.

 

By the time it is complete, other projects such as TRON and EOS should be well underway, and it is hard to see how Matrix could possibly change the landscape given it doesn't really offer anything new, just a different spin.

 

So my vote for this project is no.

yep he is, he abandoned his previous projects STEEM and Bitshares, both almost dead, now EOS already abandoned by block.one creators, not to mention 4bil $ money grab, for a Bitshares clone, full of bugs, they didnt even released planned main net yet cuz its so shit that it will get hacked in no time ?

 

He is good programer I give you that.
