Immigration nabs alien monks

Immigration nabs alien monks

PATTAYA:--Four Cambodian monks were arrested and disrobed after immigration police discovered they had entered Thailand illegally.

A squad of Chonburi Immigration Office agents swarmed a hut in a potato field in Sriracha’s Bo Win sub-district where the monks were living May 22.

None of the four – with ages ranging from 33 to 66 – had passports; only monkhood certifications. They were charged with visa violations and stripped of their robes by area Buddhist officials before being deported back to their home country.

Is that potato field now declared a safe zone already?

I am always bewildered by the use of the word alien. To me it means someone from outer space, extra terrestrial. Lost in translation I guess.

"certified monks"....there,s a thing now, didn,t realise certificates were issued....I wonder what "tests" they undertook  :whistling:

Yes, the locusts have left the building.

Must be something more to this story why would “monks” be in a Potato field and not a temple?

With all the bad monks disrobed in Thailand recently ? I wonder if there are any good ones left ????

A typical place for real Buddhists, roughly speaking. While the "real" monks prefer to fly in Learjets and go for the big bucks. Amen.

They have been reading the recent news about the corruption within the Thai temples and have decided the pickings are far better in Thailand than in Cambodia.

The local saffrons were not having any of these freeloading interlopers cutting in on their ill gotten gains and maybe stealing their stolen money.

And they didn't have WPs and were doing a job that a Thai can do (begging and contemplating the stoic calmness of potato beetles).
