Yet there's much more to be reformed.

I'd add as limited examples (so many more exist):

  • a lower court finding of "not guilty" cannot be appealed by the prosecution
  • prosecution must always begin in the lower court, not in the Supreme Court
  • assign a competent defense lawyer with no conflict of interest within the judicial system or prosecution to "qualified" defendants
  • establish firm sentencing and bail guidelines, not "let's make a deal"
  • criminal prosecution proceeds regardless of any civil settlement
  • eliminate laws that rely on "good morals and intentions" as standards for violations
  • take religion out of the court
  • assure no judicial conflicts of interests

May I add:

  • De-criminalise defamation (make it a civil offence).
  • Scrap the Lese Majeste laws. Serious offences (e.g.- treason, sedition, threats) can be adequately covered by other legislation.
  • Accept the system of precedent (or case law).

"You play...you pay" but sometimes "You pay without playing" with bad timing or if you cross the wrong person.

Or you, "You play and get away with it", if you have the right contacts and $$$!  ?

Going off the old stats on http://www.thaiprisonlife.com It would be appear that well over 50% of those incarcerated, are there for drug offences.

This seems like another good reason for the government to ease up on the drug laws.

Agreed. Cases also seem to have ridiculously long sentences for tiny amounts of narcotics.
