BANGKOK — Take a photo with Choco the fashionista bear in her bedroom. Tell Cony the bunny to stop running around you and go dance in a corner for your amusement. See Moon dressed as an astronaut on a mission to explore, well, the moon.

At Line Village, an indoor theme park opening Friday at the Siam Square One shopping mall, these and other “sticker” characters from the massively popular chat application are brought to life to touch in real and virtual forms.

Line Village is, sadly, one of those establishments with a dual “farang price” system

A special Line creature has suddenly come to life.

"850 baht for Thais."

Maximum minimum daily wage Thailand: 330 baht.

Minimum daily wage UK (7hrs worked, breaks/mealtimes not paid): £54.81.

Cost of visit for Thai is 2.57 x min daily wage.

That's like paying £140.86 in UK.

Which "wrongness" does it illustrate for you?

NB: 650 baht for Thai child

Why pay good money to see a huge advertisement?

What's quite funny, well, sad really I suppose is that Line have in the last few months made Brown the Bear rather a lot less brown. He's now a few shades lighter than he always was before. Latent Asian racism.

Nothing wrong.

Just a silly load of boIIocks to steer well clear of. Time more usefully spent elsewhere.

....

This may come as some surprise to you, but not all foreigners living in Thailand earn their living from a UK salary.

In the specific case, however, it doesn't matter since I wouldn't want to see that even if they paid me.
