Visa Extension : 15 days or 21 days prior to expiry?

Featured Replies

Dear All - Good day !!

My Non Imm O Visa expires on 25th of Aug 2018.

Please let me know if I need to report for my visa extension 15 days or 21 days prior to 25th Aug 2018.

Hoping for your kind assistance.

Best,

LokHkt

Applications for extension of permission to stay can be done 6 weeks before the expiry date - although many immigration offices work to one month.

To apply for an extension of stay (visas are not extended) there is no minimum number of days to do it. You could do it on the last day of your current permit to stay if you wanted to.

The 15 or 21 days is to apply for a non immigrant visa at immigration.

You can, in principle, apply for the extension up to the last day of your current permission to stay (but applying that late would be a bad idea). You can generally apply up to 30 days (45 days at some offices) before the expiry of your current permission to stay. Your extension begins from the end of the current permission to stay, regardless of when you apply.
