Please Help RE: METV - Do I need re-entry permit? I was given a confusing stamp when extending my visit.

Featured Replies

I am leaving this weekend for a week long visit to Viet Nam before returning on my METV.  I extended this 60 day visit to 90 days, and I got a stamp in my passport at immigration (Nonthaburi) that says "To keep stay permit re-entry permit must be made before leaving Thailand."  I know that I do not need a re-entry permit according to the METV visa rules, so is this a mistake?  If I do not get a re-entry permit and arrive back in Thailand, is there a chance I would be turned away because of this stamp even though I already have a visa that permits me to re-enter without a permit?

The part about the re-entry permit is standard on all extension of stay stamps they use. It is nothing to worry about.

No. Are-entry Permit is unecessary in your case because when you return you will receive a new 60 day permit to stay.
