Pattaya Chinese loan shark gang busted - nine arrests

 

 

Deputy police chief Pol Gen Chalermkiat Sriwarakhan announced that Pattaya tourist police and Region 2 investigators had busted a loan sharking operation in the Pattaya area.

 

Nine Chinese nationals were arrested. They were using Pattaya as a base for offering loans via the internet to people in China.

 

Tens of millions of baht were involved and the number of customers is over 10,000 people.

 

Police showed a lot of electronic evidence such as computers, routers, mobile phones and 250 books listing the names of customers. 

 

The arrests were part of RTP operations in Pattaya to solve transnational crime, reported Sophon Cable TV on Facebook.

By any chance would they have been staying in a condo owned by Chinese? I'm guessing these types of operations are getting more usual, maybe even pushing the traditional Russian operations out. Embrace the new overlords!
