Savannakhet

Featured Replies

There are packs of wild dogs in Savannakhet near the old district where many low end hotels are, a few kms south of the Thai embassy.  Be careful, at one point I had to pick up a bamboo stick and ward off a pack of about 10 that surrounded me and got aggressive around 7pm.

which road was it? i think I know them

Last time I was in Savannakhet, about a month ago, I crossed the border in early evening.

I walked from the bus station to find a hotel. Walked about 3-4km and got harassed by dogs for various times.

I suppose the reason is that nobody in Savannakhet walks. Everybody are using either bicycle, scooter or a car to get around.
