BANGKOK, 20th June 2018 (NNT) - The Department of Land Transport (DLT) has introduced a smart bus terminal system at stations across the country to provide passengers with real-time travel information.

DLT Director-General Sanit Promwong has announced that the smart bus terminal system installed at passenger terminals is meant to display relevant information of use to passengers, such as the times of departure and arrival, vehicle number, and travel route, to facilitate more convenient travel planning. In addition, passengers can access the smart bus terminal mobile application that connects them to information available at other stations.

The new system is currently operational at 81 stations across the country. The remaining stations that belong to The Transport Company Ltd, such as those at Mo Chit, Ekamai, and Sai Tai, as well as other privately-operated stations will implement the system by the end of the year.

Director-General Sanit also reported that the new van terminal in front of Mo Chit Bus Terminal is operational, but services will also continue from the original location to prevent confusion.

He also addressed a request by taxi drivers at Suvarnabhumi International Airport to increase fares by 5%, to raise the airport surcharge from 50 baht to 70 baht, and introduce a baggage handling fee of 30 baht per bag. Sanit said the DLT is in the process of studying their proposals and is expected to come up with a new fare scheme in July this year.

Ridiculous! Dump a bag in the trunk at 30 baht per bag.

'real time' and 'travel planning', that's today's two oxymorons.

'real-time': I take it that means when it states the bus departs at 12:05 it really does? Nah, I thought not.

From what I can see from the article, their idea of 'real-time' just displays blindly what's on the timetable, but on a smartphone.

A proper real-time system will update to say the bus is late and will now depart at 12:10

What's Dave Lee Travis doing on the buses.

From the Smart Drivers hub - where else   ?

This is what is needed at Sathorn Pier for the Express boat service.

It will stop the noise from a very loud PA system which is heard up to 1 km away

Does this apply to a taxi that has a LGN tank in the trunk that can't accommodate a check-in suitcase that must otherwise be squeezed into the back seat with the passenger? In that case the passenger should get a 30 baht per bag discount.
