A chartered van fell into a roadside ditch in Nakhon Ratchasima's Non Daeng district early Thursday, injuring the driver and seven passengers, police said.

Police said the accident happened at 1.40am on the Mittraparp road in Ban None Tathen village in Tambon Don Yao Yai, Non Daeng district.

Six of the injured were sent to the Sida district hospital and two others to None Daeng hospital.

The van driver, Panupong Chansida, 35, told police that his van had been chartered to collect seven passengers at Suvarnabhumi Airport and take them to their homes in Nakhon Ratchasima’s Bua Yai district.

He said he lost control of the van as he tried to avoid a large hole on the road, causing it to fall into the ditch and flip over.

Even in the dark, a large hole wouldn't appear out of nowhere. So, yet another example of someone  driving way to fast for the own ability.  Maybe if these vans where all limited to no more than 40 kph then these muppets would a sporting chance of keeping it on the road...But I wouldn't hold my breath.
