misoprostol via mailorder and/or locally

Hello, I would like to know, if anyone is aware of women in Thailand, whom have successfully acquired

misoprostol + mifepristone

via:  https://www.womenonweb.org/en/i-need-an-abortion

I am aware of the Thai law on the subject.

my concern is if obtain genuine medicine, and making sure there is no delay receiving the mailorder via customs, as looking at the website, they state there is no "courier" service in Thailand, so perhaps, it might not unpredictable to obtain the time-sensitive medicine,  etc

I'd also be happy to just obtain the  misoprostol   locally  if planned parenthood or the   population centre  or  other pharmacys have it, as I understand it is a "registered" medicine at present   in Thailand

As these drugs are controlled in Thailand, one could run into legal difficulties if obtaining this from other than a registered clinic or hospital...and would be liable to prosecution for self-administering it or helping someone else to do so.

In addition, it is unadvisable to self administer (about 15% if abortions will be incomplete and need additional medical treatment etc.) unless there is absolutely no choice, which in Thailand there is.

For which reason no, I do not know of anyone obtaining it through that channel in Thailand and there is no reason to do so given better, safer alternatives.

Anyone in need of this should contact either

1) PDA    http://site.pda.or.th/e_contact.htm

2) Thai Planned Parenthood  http://ppat.or.th/?page_id=3262&lang=en

hmm, well womenonwaves seem to provide different data with regard to, esp the use of the combo pill.

https://www.womenonweb.org/en/page/485/in-collection/6905/how-do-you-know-if-you-have-complications-and-what-should-you-do

more like 2-3%     ...........assuming all guidelines are carefully used

I think one of the points of WOW , is because of the inability to obtain safe services, and in part as a safer alternative to illegal abortions with respect.

AFAIK,  PDA and TPP  are  not only allowed to provide safe pregnancy termination, except for instances of rape, etc  ; is that Not the case?

I know a friend of a friend,  whose  bf  had her flown to Japan  to have an abortion , I don't know how many weeks she was ......

Not at all the  case and this is NOT Thai law.

Thai law allows abortion if in doctor's opinion the continuation of the pregnancy would be harmful to the woman's physical or mental health.

I have not known these places to refuse any woman who was sure she wanted an abortion, provided she was early enough.

I'm inclined to believe you, if there are known recent and consistent cases ?

I had also been perusing TV / Nation here:

https://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/1025223-hua-hin-police-to-apply-to-search-suspected-abortion-clinic/?tab=comments#comment-12717899

http://www.nationmultimedia.com/detail/breakingnews/30338927

quote: " Abortion is illegal in Thailand except under three conditions  if a woman is raped, if the pregnancy affects her health or if the foetus is “abnormal”. "

Is there  any particular  pushback,  say for a woman  less than 10 weeks, as to what qualifies  as "emotional distress" .... or should one except more pushback from  PDA > TPP   or vice versa ?

1. The newspaper article you quote fails to mention a Medical Council directive some years back which specified that "health" includes both physical and mental health. please read rhe pinned thread on this.

2. There is no "push back" whatsoever from either PDA or TPP. Government hospitals on the other hand almost never perform abortions on mental health grounds. At private hospitals most doctors won't, some will but it is something of a crap shoot in terms of finding a doctor who will and the process of trying can be traumatic which is why I always refer people to PDA or TPP. i have been doing so for many years and no one has been refused.

Note that in neighboring Thailand abortion is legal on demand up to 12 weeks and there are good quality clinics run by the international NGO Marie Stopes in botb Phnom Penh and Battambong (2 hours from Thai border)
