June 22, 20188 yr hi, In my street last night, an electricity black out, condo in complete darkness no emergency lighting working (maybe its there for show) i see this morning the electric boxes are all lit up, (thinking dud batteries) or knowing Thailand the emergency supply runs off the mains, cut to the chase, i had a word with the condo manager, i say *you have no emergency lighting, what happens if you have a fire, it should work independently *, she looked at me as if i had just landed from Mars, now to the question do i take this further or do a Thai *its not my business* personally i have a huge torch, been here 8 months , never even heard of a fire alarm test , (condo in bangkok test every month) 3 months practice evacuation, thoughts anyone.
June 22, 20188 yr If it is a proper condo it will have a committee of co-owners. They are responsible for getting management to do their job but committee members are often worse than useless. If you are a co-owner then you have the right to speak about this problem at the next AGM, or indeed to bring it up at a committee meeting before then. You should also talk to other co-owners about it. If you are a tenant, or if you dont get much sense out of anyone in the building (par for the course here), then you can file a written complaint at City Hall. You could also complain at the Land Office but I doubt they would care. For what it's worth, the emergency lights and power generators for the lifts all work in my building. Never heard an alarm test in years though.
June 22, 20188 yr My place has fire drills, checks both condo and corridor lighting and fire alarms but you should always have a torch or two and emergency candles etc....in any country.
June 23, 20188 yr More than likely the batteries have failed. Like all things they require maintenance which is not usually part of the plan after any type of installation here......How old are the lighting units?Sent from my SM-N950F using Tapatalk

If there is one on your corridor stand on a chair and press the test button. Of course as has been said either no battery or battery dead. Edited June 23, 20188 yr by VocalNeal
