June 23, 20188 yr Couple killed as van hits sidecar By The Nation A couple were killed when their bike sidecar was allegedly hit by a speeding van in Chon Buri province on Saturday morning. Police said the accident happened at 6.30am on the Si Racha-bound Sukhumvit Road in Tambon Bang Phra, Si Racha district. One of the victims was identified by his identification card as Dusit Tharasak, 44, a local resident of Tambon Bang Phra. The other victim was a woman who has yet to be identified as she carried no ID card. Police said the van driver, Mana Klinhom, 49, did not halt at the scene of the accident but drove two kilometres before he stopped and waited for police there. Mana reportedly told police that he did not intend to flee but he was frightened after the accident. He admitted that he was driving fast but he said the sidecar changed lane suddenly from the right to the middle lane in front of his van, as a result he was unable to stop in time. June 23, 20188 yr Popular Post A motorbike and sidecar loaded with three people "suddenly" changing lanes?.....come on now.
June 23, 20188 yr Popular Post Your all quick to assume guilt! Motorcycle & "sidecars" as I understand are illegal here, bet the driver had no insurance or license, some of the worst 'drivers" on the road pilot these things!

Whether something is illegal or not has absolutely no relevance in Thailand.

June 23, 20188 yr dont be so hasty in judgement, sidecars are notoriously difficult to control and it wouldnt surprise me one bit if the culprit is now dead as a direct result of his own action
June 23, 20188 yr As I have said on other threads, these contraptions are involved in a disproportionate number of accidents relative to their occurrence or frequency. They tend to want to change direction quickly and in a jerky manner, particularly when driven at speed, and the "pilot" often comes from the least educated, least precaution-taking section of the population. Passengers almost never wear helmets, the thought that they should would never enter their heads. They often have defective lights or no lights at all.
