Overstay Questions

Featured Replies

I know I am an idiot already I am only genuinely trying to solve my problem. I can take the ribbing in good fun but I would still like constructive answers.

US citizen. So I have overstayed my VISA for 75 days, originally I just mixed up my dates then once I realized I had overstayed I was too scared to go to a border for fear of deportation. I am attending university here, and I very much like my life here so I really don't want to leave. I have 20k baht for the overstay fee, and I have had multiple people tell me I can just cross a land border before I hit 90 days, pay my fee, and return. But i'm still very nervous, any help would be appreciated.

Before the following are suggested, I have contacted Bangkok Buddy and they said no dice they couldn't help me as the border crossing at Ban Laem was hot and I've also tried contacting thaivisaservice.com multiple times and they have not responded yet.

Your best, and possibly only option, is to fly out/back in. When you return you should enter with a visa (not use visa exemption).

Best to fly out and back to get your overstay cleared.

Many land border crossing will not allow you to leave the country to clear a long overstay. I think the visa run company has not replied because your overstay is to long.

If you go over 90 days of overstay you will be banned from entering the country for one year.

So just fly out, pay my fine, then return with a fresh exemption? Thailand is the first time I have lived outside my country sorry if I'm asking dumb questions about VISAs i'm not well versed yet.

It would be best to get a tourist visa while you are out of the country.

You could fly to Vientiane and apply for tourist visa at the embassy there then return overland if you wanted to.

So update, thaivisaservice.com got back to me. They said I can go with their service to Laos border, they said there is nothing to worry about and assured once I pay my fine I will be good to go. I assume they are well connected or at least well known because I see them recommended on here often. Safe to trust?

They do visa runs to Vientiane.

The crossing at Nong Khai where they do the crossing to Vientiane is about the only friendly crossing for a long overstay.

I suggest you get a tourist visa while there. It will not cost much more than doing the trip for only a visa exempt entry.

You can trust them.

If you are attending university can you not get an ED Visa?

I think a better question is: how can you attend a university without an ED visa?

A non-ed visa is not required to attend a university or any other school. It can be done on any type of visa or entry.

You can attend university or language school or whatever without having an Ed visa.

asking for trouble to enter on a 30 day exemption following an overstay....

Ubonjoe knows his business, so if he says you can trust them, I would believe it.

That said, the world is an unpredictable place, and Thailand even more so.

So, do not wait until the last possible day to do this border crossing.

Give yourself enough time to get back to BKK and fly out of Suvarnabhumi, just in case the border crossing is a fail.

That seems like good advice as far as it goes - but wouldn't it be better advice just to suggest doing it ASAP due to the risk of getting picked up?
