Cost of Visa Extension

Featured Replies

Hello everyone, I just have a quick question.  I have been to Thailand multiple times but usually only for a week or so.  Today, I'm in Udon Thani and decided to extend it for 30 days.  It is actually the 30 day visa exemption I extended as I am an American citizen.  From everything I have read online the price is 1900 baht to extend it.  I was charged 2000 baht.  I didn't feel like arguing over 100 baht when I wasn't 100% sure that those fees I read about were current.  I also did not bring a passport photo copy or they did not require me to fill out any form, just sign a few papers.  Please let me know if they ripped me off for 100 baht.

Thanks

Did you get an official receipt for 2,000B? If not then it was a rip-off.

No receipt at all, I almost asked for one, but it wasn't worth it for 100 baht in my opinion.  Should I file a complaint? Not that it will do anything.

It seems the extra 100 baht was for the copies they did and perhaps a photo for the application form.

I do not think you were cheated. Some offices would have told you to go away and get copies and needed photos. It seems they provided that service for you at reasonable cost.

No receipt at all

No receipt at all? Not even for 1900B?

So you seem to be saying there was no receipt, no photo, no photocopies and no (proper) forms. If so, my bet is that the official simply pocketed the entire 2,000B.

If you dont get an official receipt it didnt happen.
