Press council asks media to do their jobs properly in their coverage of the rescue operations

The National Press Council sought cooperation from members of the media who have been covering the search and rescue operations at the Tham Luang-Khun Nam Nang Non to do their job in an orderly manner that will not pose an obstruction to the officials, to check facts to ensure accuracy and to take into consideration the privacy right of the missing 13 footballers and coach.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the council said there had been many reporters and photographers at the scene and there had been a huge load of information, including confusing information.

For that matter, the council suggested the media, particularly social media, to exercise caution by checking the facts before their presentation to the public and to refrain from dramatizing the event in a way which may cause public panic or unnecessary concern.

Maybe you should use only one person designated to speak to the press, not every Somchai and 15 second fame buddies.

Maybe call it off if you cant do it right and get international cavers, UK cavers on the way. Bring in the South African High Angle team from Cape Town....yes they do caving rescues too.

I used to do cave rescue too, 25 years of experience, but I cant now, no work permit, as I am on a retirement permit to stay.

I do hope all the rescue folk make it out alive.

Why werent the caves sealed off during monsoon season???

DUH?

Nuff said.

I just watched the video of when the British experts arrived.

What a damn disgrace, every bloody reporter/ camera man wanting in on the action/ pestering pushing the 3 men, disgraceful behavior.

Why were the police not keeping the leeches away?

Men coming halfway around the world to help then seeing that melee, bloody disgraceful, no organisatin, no proper crowd control nothing.

Young peoples lives are at stake, yet everyone is only concerned in getting a picture.

Now that is a fantastic image for the world to see... THAINESS.

I so agree colinneil ( as I often do with you ), as I posted a couple of times above , volunteers come halfway round the world giving their time and who want to get down and dirty and wet having to pose for a snap or 2. I wonder when they got to the site were they told to pose and asked stupid questions such as " Excuse me do you think you will be able to help these children ? "

These caves mate have now become the place to be seen at , and I wonder when Big Joke will turn up for gawds sake .  Another rant over.
