IMT-GT Summit to be held in Trang on Feb 13-15

Trang province will host the 22nd Indonesia-Malaysia-Thailand Growth Triangle (IMT-GT) Summit between February 13th and 15th, 2007 at Thumrin Thana Hotel in Trang’s Muang district.

Mr. Chusak Fukiat, Public Relations officer in Trang province, said the 20th IMT-GT Summit in Lankawi of Malaysia has a resolution that Trang will host the 22nd summit. The event will involve around 250 to 300 participants from Thai, Indonesian and Malaysian business councils, provincial governors, and advisers of senior government officials.

The IMT-GT is a project to promote economic cooperation between the three countries, to boost trade and investment in the region. The project will open up more business opportunities and increase the export volume of each nation by developing a competitive edge.

Moreover, IMT-GT will help improve the quality of life and create employment. It will also provide more education opportunities and social development.

In the future, the 14 southern provinces of Thailand will become the members of IMT-GT.
