Former permanent secretary facing embezzlement charge found dead

A former Social Development and Human Security Ministry permanent secretary who was being investigated for allegedly embezzling Bt88 million was found dead at his home on Friday morning in what is believed to be a suicide.

 

The body of Putthipat Lertchaosit, 60, was found at 9am in his bed at his home in Muang Pathum Thani, his wife unconscious beside him.

 

She was taken to Pathum Thani Hospital.

 

On the bedside table were a glass of wine, two bottles of drinking water and a milk bottle.

 

The Anti-Money Laundering Office had charged Putthipat with embezzling Bt88 million in state funds that was intended for poor and homeless people and laundering the money by buying various assets.

 

Putthipat, along with a ministry deputy and inspector general, was sacked by Cabinet resolution in April. He’d initially been transferred to an inactive post at the Prime Minister’s Office.

How can someone die from a glass of wine, a bottle of water and a bottle of milk. 

Hmmmm there must be something missing here. 

Message to all the embellers, no amount of money or jail time is worth dying for. They were both young and would have been out in a few years. 

Why suicide they all look after each other when your on the top run of the ladder ! oh thats why the inactive position was taken by someone of higher authority getting sacked with 88 million no problem ! sad I do hope whoever can recover some if not all of the money and assets can and will foward it onto the poor and the homeless but I have my doubts !

I he was a man who was working for the present regime he was probably a man who "knew too much".

 

 

You never know; some of these thieving scum may be being ousted from their former cliche's of 'connected' friends and the loss of face would be too much to bear.    What with that and the ongoing snail paced investigations and one day possible prosecutions, suicide might seem an obvious release.

 

Quite frankly i don't know how any of these scumbags can live with themselves after stealing from the poorest !

but because he Thai he only realised it after he get caught!

Not at all. Thailand is inherently corrupt. I doubt very much this man took as much as he did without others knowing or others being complicit.

Maybe it was as simple as a suicide. 

 

But what disturbs me about these cases is that there is no way they could have done a full investigation before they declared it a suicide.  Consequently, someone in power has some face attached to making sure that ruling doesn't change and embarrass him/them.  So the odds of getting a genuine, thorough and impartial investigation have diminished right out of the blocks.

I won't be shedding a tear for him, 88 Million Baht that should have gone to needy people, eat dirt ar*e hole.

Why top yourself when fleeing tried and tested seams so easy here.
