snoop1130
Skytrain to change signalling to end delays By The Nation The National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC), Bangkok Skytrain operator Bangkok Mass Transit System Public Co (BTSC), Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA), TOT and Total Access Communication (DTAC) will jointly monitor the Skytrain at 05.50am on Monday. They hope to solve frequent jams in the signalling system, which took place from Monday to Wednesday. The study will examine if switching the signalling to a new radio communications equipment and using other spectrum bands, instead of the current 2400MHz, will help. The change of the equipment and the use of the new frequency is due to be finished tonight. As part of the monitoring, the NBTC will send its radio frequency vehicles to check frequencies along the route. The BTSC said the problem was likely to have been caused by its signalling system experiencing interference on the telecom spectrum. The NBTC watchdog on Wednesday suggested that the Skytrain operator shift to use 2480-2495MHz as a long-term solution. The BTSC has intended to finish installing the new radio communications equipment and move to the NBTC's recommended band tonight. TOT will switch off its 2300MHz cellular base stations along the Skytrain routes on a temporary basis until BTS finishes implementing the change. TOT has granted the 2300MHz to DTAC to provide wireless broadband in a business partnership deal. If they're slow-speed trains, they could signal via Thailand Post, then it won't interfere with any other users.
