Visa "Valid Until" Date

Featured Replies

Hello all! I'm after some advice about my METV please. It is "Valid Until" 12 August 2018 - does this mean I can still enter Thailand on the 12th? Or my latest entry can be 23:59 11.8.18?

Thankyou in advance for your answers!

You can enter on the 12th, but it's always wise to plan for delayed flights etc.

"I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"

And have they really changed to "Valid Until" or still use "ENTER BEFORE" which is more confusing to many?

Answer is the same.

Yes they have. The new stickers have valid until.

Finally heard the call

Yes and no. I agree "enter before" caused confusion. However, it did at least emphasize that the visa is used to enter the country, and has no relationship to your admitted until date. The new wording may lead to a different, and more dangerous, type of confusion.

Why wait until the last day, given the whims and fancies of the imm.....be prepared..?

Personally I thought "Enter before" was very clear - to be pedantic (!) it actually meant "Enter on or before", however "Valid Until" could imply that one needs to leave by that date, rather than use the visa by that date.

Amusingly, i just looked at my latest SETV issue December 2017 - it had "Valid Until"  - it also had "Valid From" which the previous one did not, and I didn't even register the changes at the time!  Obviously clear enough for those of us who've done it before but confusing to newbies like the OP who, after all, are often tourists.

However, it is what it is - TIT?
