Popular Post Denim
And now a bit of tiddler porn for fans of small things. Always wished my wave had a manual clutch so when I saw this Ryuka Retro RK100 in a local dealer yesterday I was tempted to get it for pottering around the village. A snip at 29,000 baht. If the engine gives out could probably fit a 110 honda unit in it. Also sold as the Lifan Victor in some countries with different trim etc. Edited October 10, 2019 by Denim 5

Praise for its mile covering ability and when you wanted sporty it could with a F I FZR 1000 lump and was also one of the first to fit ABS plus Yam' build qual' .. but it was never a commercial hit on account of being a bit too quirky with that front despite the advantages they bring in handling and braking and was quietly dropped from the range .. But you have to admit, hitting the tarmac at 400 Km/hr is a little more exciting than falling off a Montesa Cota at 3 Km/hr. Unless you are riding on/around big, pointy rocks. Hand gear shifter, I don't get it when using your foot is so much better/faster. I used to be a HD fan/owner but I sort of lost interest. They are just too expensive for what you are getting compared to other brands and they seems to refuse moving away from the V-Twin concept and are super heavy.

That record was set in 2011, i presume they are a fair bit faster now... The guy was used to crashing, here is another one at 220mph, this time with interesting on board footage; If you have'nt been to a top fuel drag race meet, i highly recommend it, not just the bikes, but especially the cars. Not only are you witnessing spectacular acceleration, but the sounds, and vibes of the ground shaking with the V8's, the ear piercing screech of the in line 4 Jap based bikes, the uneven off idle of the big HD based v twins, the smell of nitro in the air... intoxicating. I used to do a bit of drag racing for a couple of years with my own Triumph, running on neat Methanol and around 130 bhp, running in a Supertwins class, but half the speeds and twice the times of these guys. The only time i ever wore a FF helmet....

Popular Post ballpoint
Taurus were an Italian manufacturer that lived and died in the mid 20th century. They came out with some nice looking models, such as the 200SS in 1956... ...and the 500 G27 in the 40s: Italian custom builder Classic Farm has created a homage to the latter, the Taurus G28, based on a Royal Enfield Bullet. So pre 63. Fair chance the top end of the motor is 9 stud '70, and mebbe got a '70 crank and rods in it. all doable. But that is a P/U bottom end. However, the bike has some nicely done, UNUSUAL touches. The weird timing cover with extension piece, the use of a front half unit primary cover, with a pre unit rear half - very neat, Jap 6 spring clutch. I like the colour details and contrast on the rims and front brake. Stored pics in my computer files, ta. Yes, started by an Aussie by the name of Ken Horner, who used to race a Vincent powered sidecar outfit in the 70s, met Phil Irving and chatted about his V-twin design and its capacity for further development, as you would, and decided to make bikes based on a replica engine. His parent company is Horner Race Development, or HRD (what a coincidence), and, since the Vincent name was taken, named his bikes Irving Vincent. The Austart sponsorship on the sidecar above, and bikes below, is his original company, making air starters, which gave him the resources, and I guess the money, to be able to start a new bike manufacturer from scratch.
ballpoint
Irving Vincent toyed with the idea of making a road bike, which I'm sure would have sold bigly, but only got as far as a prototype before it was canned due to emission regulations. Now they stick to racing machines.
Popular Post ballpoint
Harry Whitver is a Tennessee based painter who served as a combat artist in Vietnam before becoming a commercial artist. He painted this picture of the legend who put the Irving in Irving Vincent, and, more importantly, the V-twin in the Vincent.
