Anti-torture group to train Thai authorities in aim to reduce torture

Man falls 2 floors at Western Bangkok Mall

PHUKET:-- On the day that Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha met with Chinese Ambassador Lyu Jian in person in Phuket over the deaths of 41 Chinese tourists killed in the ‘Phoenix’ tour boat disaster, Royal Thai Police Deputy Commander Gen Srivara Ransibrahmanakul today (July 9) presented a new tally of the dead, injured and missing – telling the public that only five persons remain unaccounted for.

CHIANG RAI, Thailand (Reuters) - Rescue workers in Thailand brought out on Monday the fifth boy from a group of 12 and their soccer coach trapped for more than two weeks in a flooded cave complex, a navy official said, hours after the rescue mission resumed.

The English Patient wins public poll of best Man Booker in 50 years

Twenty six years ago, the panel of judges were so unsure who should win the Man Booker in 1992 that they ended up with a tie: Michael Ondaatje and Barry Unsworth. But on Sunday evening Ondaatje edged ahead, with his bestselling novel The English Patient being named the best winner of the Booker prize of the last 50 years, in a public vote.

Gang arrested after 150kg of ‘ice’ seized in Bangkok as smuggling soars

Mission chief hits out at errant media

Tourism Ministry to pay Bt64 million in compensation to Phuket boat victims

PHUKET:-- Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha today rated the ongoing Tham Luang cave rescue operation and the sinking of the Phoenix Phuket tour boat disaster as “equally important”. But added, “The cave rescue is the main issue here today.”
