I wouldn't trust a word the UK government says: the background to this is the woman and her partner are heroin addicts.

Drug addicts maybe nerve agent addicts absolutely not.

Feedback from their community suggests they found something attractive to their lifestyle and handled it.

What is it that you don't believe? That she has died? You seem to believe the stories about her being a heroin addict, for instance. So you seem perfectly prepared to believe some information about this story but not other parts of it. On what basis do you decide which bits are true and which aren't?

What a ridiculous statement.   Do heroin addicts deserve to be poisoned with a nerve agent?   Perhaps cigarette smokers deserve it also?

The only relevance their addiction has to the situation is that it might help in retracing where they had been.   There probably isn't a need to check the local Church.

And the fact that they were heroin addicts has nothing to do with what the UK government says.  Perhaps the gov't made up the fact that they are heroin addicts?

why would the Russians launch an attack against a two people who no one knowns with no known connection to Russia during their charm offensive that is the World Cup?

There can be a number of possibilities:

  • one or both did have some Kremlin connection
  • the spread of Novichok was far greater than believed in the attack on the Skripos
  • the attack on Sturgess and Rowley was a case of mistaken identity
  • the attack on Sturgess and Rowley was a test run in preparation for an attack on another known Kremlin "problem"

More investigation is needed, including M-16 to search for any relevant communications before and after the attack.

As far as Russia behaving itself during a World Cup event, one need only look to Russia's corruption in the Olympics.

That's assuming they had any involvement in the first attack. Which is a bit of a stretch given no plausible motive has so far been put forward.

Much more plausible this was done by a nation wanting to hurt Europe Russia relations.

I hope a root and branch investigation of personnel and procedures at Porton Down is underway. If not, why not ?

In view of what has happened, I'm sure both Porton Down and (to a lesser extent, the govt.....) are very concerned to ensure that there is no link between PD laboratories and the contaminations.  So I've no doubt that an investigation is being carried out.

Whether we will ever be told the truth (IF PD was responsible for the contaminations) is more than unlikely as PD is already extremely controversial.
