Need To Employ Sales Staff

Recommended Posts

Just decided to grow our little business into something (hopefully) bigger and better with the aid of a sales team.

Need a mix of Thai staff (male and female) to sell an innovative product into hotels/restaurants, motor vehicle dealers, factories and large office complexes.

Anyhoo...here's the thing, apart from spending 000's of folding to advertise in the classifieds in the Bangkok Post I would welcome your recommendations regarding suitable places to locate sales staff.

Thanks in anticipation guys.

got your own website with a miningful domain name and advertise it on the net and in the newspapers/magazines instead of buying a large text space. All detailed info about your product, including your contact details, as well as an offer to the agents interested in selling your product, should be rather only on the website itself.

safe yourself on the initial costs of setting up a cental office in Bangkok and employing people in one place - try to spread your business all over the country, with your sales representatives in each of the major industrial/commercial/tourist towns. Thailand is quite a large country and sending your sales staff from the central office to the provincial towns for the demonstrations and talks as well as finding local clients can be time consuming.

if you decide to set up a central office do it in the Bangkok suburbs where the renting space is much cheaper than in the city

Thanks Londonthai.

Already been in business 2.5 years with a registered Limited Thai company with an office near Sukhumvit.

99% of our business will be within BKK itself, hence the requirement for a couple of dedicated sales people (primarily for the hotel and car dealer sectors).

Already have a website, but without going to details our product needs direct sales people so the customer can witness the 'effects' of the equipment before and after it is demonstrated. The website only really gives technical information.

I am hoping to hear from fellow members who have practical experience of hiring and operating a Thai sales team.

Thanks in anticipation once again.

Ok first off Im in the Recruitment Business, so I may be a bit biased, but here you go,

If you advertise yourself, JobThai and Jobsdb will give you the best exposure, with better English Speaking candiddates coming from Jobsdb, however the response (ie number & Quality of CV's) can never be guaranteed.

If you need people that are outgoing and can litteraly knock on Doors, dont advertise, but look at whats around you, those young Thais allways around Suk 20 / 30 doing the tourist survey (Timeshare) are a great way to start off, I have recruited some stars from there, also Waitress staff, and Shop staff, keep your eyes and ears open.

Also, have a look at the local Uni, get an advert written up (best in Thai) and see if you can place it in the Uni notice board, also, look at local language schools around you, if people are spending their own money to get better English then they may well be worth looking at.

Last but not least, look at using a Recruitment agency, generally it will cost you anywhere between 15 - 25% of the Candidates annual salary and you will only pay on results.

Hope this helps
