Well as this may be headed to the legal arena, just to note that in California -- where Musk is a resident -- given the totality of the case, neither 'vile' nor whether the 'pedo' tag fits might  not be sufficient to prove libel as Musk's (now) legal team would obviously know.

Seems as if the whole family is a bit thin skinned. At this time of his life, with the celebration and the festivities, and the admiration that was being heaped upon him, it would have been very easy to just laugh this off, as the rantings of a fool, and the accusations of a very, very small man, with an ego this size of Tiny Dons. Water off a duck's back mate. Shame he did not see it this way.

 

I am not saying what Musk said was not very offensive. It was. And it was unnecessary. Just a case of a malcontent dick stirring the pot. Just saying Vern could have handled this better.

A Hero? Really? What heroic deed did Vern do exactly? He was familiar with the caves because he lived nearby & explored them when they were DRY. He never "dove" into the flooded cave. He never "rescued" any of the boys. What exactly did he do? Nothing more heroic than the local guy giving free rides down the road on his scooter.

Clearly an upset Yankee worshipper of Felon, sorry, Elon Musk.

Fair enough.  When you get done taping Musk's mouth AND his fingers to the table so he can't Twiddle anymore, use the rest of the tape of Vern and his dear old Mum.  Seems the apple didn't fall far from the tree on this genetic duo.

 

Then go to Global, buy a shed load more and do the same to the tabloid media pond scum who keep this drivel going day after day for their own petty interests, feeding the mass of miserable old cows on  "The Net".

This is what can happen when you pull a BS PR stunt like Unsworth did with the shoe taping photo and then criticize Musk saying what he did was a PR stunt.

 

In Unsworth's case it was a pure publicity stunt. ("Look at me world. I'm a hero because I'm taping my ten year old shoes up soos I can keep working here"). Quite a caver to be walking around in caves with useless shoes. 

 

I'm starting to wonder if he staged the whole thing.  

 

You have to be pretty stupid to be walking around caves and mountains with hiking boots falling apart. I hike in the mountains almost every day.  Brain dead to do that. 

 

It has taken a while but nice to see folks finally beginning to see the light about this guy.  Better late than never.

Vern needs to stop this story now, the balls firmly in his court! Admit to his part in starting this silly drama and make a public acceptance of Musk's apology and close the issue.The fact he's saying nothing tells me hes holed up in some pokey London office with his no win no fee Lawyer plotting how to get a pay day out of this. Terrible that this is now taking attention away from the heroics of the cave rescue. 

 

I keep thinking if this was another individual, some other  engineer that invented the mini sub and tried to help, we would be appalled at Vern's comments towards a fellow volunteer. I imagine also we would be a lot more understanding if that individual lashed out in response.

"Family Guy" is an example of a show popular with college age kids that has a long history of pedophile jokes - hard to imagine these would have passed the censors in the UK.
