BANGKOK, 25th July 2018 (NNT) - The Meteorological Department is warning people in the northeastern and northern regions of danger from heavy rain and possible flash floods in some areas.

The department on Tuesday issued its 10th announcement on the tropical depression. According to the announcement, the depression is likely to weaken into a strong low pressure system which will result in frequent and heavy rains in the North and Northeast this week.

People in the areas affected by heavy rain are warned of flash floods and water flowing from the forests.

The department also forecast that a moderate southeastern monsoon in the South will cause two-meter waves in the Andaman Sea and higher waves in waters affected by thunderstorms. Seamen are advised to operate with caution.

Meanwhile, the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation has reported that the recent tropical storm Son Tinh caused heavy rain in 19 provinces. Heavy rain still affects two of the provinces—Kanchanaburi and Tak. The department, in collaboration with military and relevant units, are doing their utmost to assist those affected, and pump water out of submerged areas, reported the department.

Stay out of caves up there.

Are the meteorological department referring to the tropical depression Sonh Tin?

Edit: Reading helps...

Not so much to worry about according to wunderground website.

Chucking it down in Chiang Mai confirmed.

...can't get over the lack of specifics....just general statements....
