Mobile phone owners can use maximum of 5 SIM cards

BANGKOK, 26th July 2018 (NNT) - The National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) has resolved to allow mobile phone users to buy and register only 5 SIM cards per operator.

NBTC Secretary-General Takorn Tantasith said today that mobile phone network operators are now required to report to the NBTC if any of their customers own more than five phone numbers.

Users can no longer purchase and register more than five SIM cards with a retailer. However, if they wish to have more than five numbers, they can still purchase additional SIM cards directly from the network provider wherein the provider will be responsible for reporting those additional accounts to the NBTC. Both retailers and service providers will be held accountable for any subsequent damage related to the sale of SIM cards.

Meanwhile, the NBTC has made some changes to the upcoming auction of the 1800 MHz spectrum on August 8th in which the winning bidder will be able to choose the slot first. A lucky draw will be introduced if there are two winning bidders.

Got your sums wrong mate, if he has 5 phones for his women, how is he going to phone them?

I think itis 1 mia luang 3 mia nois, and 1 phone for Somchai.

Network operators in this country not only one so no problem with mia noi. And if you like take care so many mia they have a name too and can buy sim too. I have only one mia and sim.

How many providers in Thailand?

This says 5 SIM cards per operator, so 5 from AIS, 5 from True, 5 from D-Tac, 5 from MY (CAT) & 5 from TOT.

Does this mean that I can in fact but 25 SIM cards without resorting to asking my partner to purchase 25 for me?

Does this measure really stop people from buying 'too many' SIM cards?

This is bad news because I've just ordered the latest Galaxy X99 with 10 sim card slots.

Since you can make calls without a sim just what is the purpose of this brilliant new rule?

well I have two SIMs in my phone. One serious and one for play. And one SIM in my GPS tracker in my motorcycle.

so I could see how someone might be inconvenienced by this.

I have one in my tablet and laptop computer so that would make 5 and what about my 3 extra phones?

I didn't know about that.  Wow.  I feel violated.  My likes may have come from a farm.

Even so if that is the case we still couldn't match the number of dodgy luxo watches held by deputy dawg ..

Great news I was almost dumping my sim cards in the names of Prajut, Prawit, and Sonthi.

No it means 4 at True Move, five at D tac and three at A.I.S.

How will this help stop call centers?  Is that the only reason for a 5 sim limit?

So much for IoT. I think I got 6 cards just in various burglar alarms and car navigations.
