I have an SCB ATM card that is connected to MasterCard so it can be used to buy online. I tried, but no success. Is there something I need to do to activate it?

On the activation site it says:

I searched through online banking to no avail.

So it seems indeed as if you have to do it/check it at an ATM or via phone.

One more reason to close my Bangkok Bank account, because besides KTB, BBL was the only one which allowed your Debit Card to do online shopping !!

In my previous message I said KTB but of course it is KSK (Kasikorn) where you can get a Virtual Credit Card.

A bit of a joke!

Today I tried it an SCB branch.

First ATM/CDM combination machine: English menu has no way to get to this feature.

Second ATM: different English menu, easy to find "Set Limits".

Fine?

It shows my ATM limit (recently raised through internet banking).

And it shows "20000" for purchases. Seems to be the default.

Not try to change the 20000:

"Enter your ID or passport number"

And now? My passport "number" starts with a letter followed by digits.

Of course no way to enter letter.

Two attempts entering the digits only.

"Wrong" to no surprise.

Gave up.

 

From my experience with a similar action via Bangkok Bank telephone number I fear the worst with trying by phone (and won't try, any volunteers?).

At Bangkok Bank the operator described that I will be connected to the Thai language automatic system and will have to enter the pin at some point followed by hashmark(?).

After numerous failed attempts I politely asked to finish and cancel the attempt.

 

Happy to have Kasikorn (K-Bank) "web shopping card" which can fully be managed through internet banking. Another plus for Kasikorn.
