Visa on Arrival 30 day extension, when?

Featured Replies

If someone has experience with this question  I would like to know.

I need to extend my 30 day visa on arrival for 30 days at Chang Wattana. However my visa on arrival will not expire for 3 weeks yet. Can I do the 30 extension at any time, or is it only like one week before? I would like to get the second thirty days so I can travel and not worry about getting back to immigration.

Also does anyone know if I need an onward plan ticket to show for the extension. Has anyone been asked?

Thanks for any help.

I assume you have a 30 day visa exempt entry since a visa on arrival is only for 15 days for those from 21 countries.

Not sure Chaeng Wattana immigration will do the extension 3 weeks early.

You can apply for the extension at any immigration office (about 70 of them) if you have a local address to put on the application form.

A onward ticket is not required to apply for the extension.

There are not set rules. They might do it that early (it’s been known), but I wouldn’t want to queue for hours at CW to find out. It would be better to do it within the last week at the immigration office you’re nearest to at the time.
