The Pattaya mayor has contacted the land department to rescind title deeds related to land at the tip of Bali Hai cape in South Pattaya.

The area is known as "Achaland" and became the property of Achaland Co Ltd.

A "chanote" or title deeds were issued by corrupt officials. A Supreme Court ruling handed down in 2017 and read this year named five state officials and two private individuals as complicit in the fraudulent issuance of the deeds.

Now mayor Anan Charoenchasri has contacted the land department by letter to ensure that the disputed land once again become available for public use.

"The people" you mean the city of Pattaya no doubt, an area to allocate for more vendors and shops thus more revenue for the city coffers....

When people who are entrusted ( ie government officials ) break the law for personal gain the penalties should triple. And their bosses should also fall for the lack of oversight.

in germany  are two diffrent law in place

Corruption and acceptance of benefits in the office

1, apply to private people, govermentwfor cash , and companys ,and  have lower jailterms

2. apply only to goverment high ranking goverment officals, who have the power , t o change laws or regulations , and they would do that, only in favour of non cash benefits, cash benefits..meanig  reulations and laws would be only changed to favour the personal benefits. Jailterms are much higher than in corruption

the only sadness is, nearly no judges, and if  , they are all promminent, and not facing the full power of this law

I wonder if this has any impact on the "Waterfront" tower ?

I hope they return that very large shathe of blue concrete shown in the photo back to "public" usage too.

So have any who were involved in the “Corruption” been jailed ?

It was great when the coaches went to the blue area I thought they only went back to the beach for the flotilla but seem to have stayed.  Its not that I was there but every morning it’s like the evacuation of Dunkirk only no spitfires ( now their is an opening, loud speakers along the beach and Pattaya’s finest although older now flying aces, to be found in soi buakow in there reconditioned plane from Ripleys )

There would have been a lot of money involved so I would think there was no way that the directors of Achaland Co Ltd did not know it was corrupt payments, so they just need to negate the chanote(s) and move them off the land no compensation.

Imprison the corrupt land registry employees and sack their bosses.

Rea the Waterfront Condo:

I heard as part of this agreement, they will turn it into a public park/national monument.

There will be a small fee that will increase the higher you want to go for a better view. But, you will have to climb yourself.

Groups of people will be able to sit with their legs crossed and eat Som Tum and look out at the beautiful bay.

The place will be packed I bet.

PS:  No alcohol will be allowed because they do not want drunk people falling off the building.

But two taxi drivers were fined for not using their meters.  Meanwhile at Cartoon Network there is an official list of non-metered taxi prices: eg Ambassador - 300; Tesco Lotus - 400; Walking Street- 550.  and so on.
