Gen. Prayuth Chan-ocha speaks to reporters Tuesday at Government House.

BANGKOK — Junta chairman Prayuth Chan-ocha reiterated Thursday his pledge for a general election next year, thought he said it could be postponed again if some unspecified conflicts erupt.

In a speech to reporters, Prayuth also said his regime respected the rule of law and called on the media not to antagonize the public in their coverage.

Prayuth said. “ I believe Thailand exists today because of its justice system.” Very true. You have a bunch of untouchables at the top, who can do what they want with impunity, while the masses

  • some unspecified conflicts erupt   you mean people wanting to meet?  discuss?  disagree with you?  that type of thing?

  • It's just boring now. No-one believes a damn word you say anymore.

Every chance of that, punch a critic in the mouth and it may just escalate from there.

That shouldn't be a problem to arrange.

I think he means a fight between the Junta and a legitimate political group with something to say...

Prayuth said. “ I believe Thailand exists today because of its justice system.”

Very true. You have a bunch of untouchables at the top, who can do what they want with impunity, while the masses are totally oppressed, BECAUSE of the laughable excuse of a justice system. And that is the truth!

The same laws he ignored to remove a democratically elected government or other laws they make up as they go?

Here we go again; It's funny (ok, I don't really think there's anything funny about these people anymore) though that they always give out their plans by either denying something outright or implying something that is supposed to happen might not happen if something were to happen in which case it's surely going to happen. Good job with blurring the election date again to encompass the whole 2019, just so he can pull some form of "I promised the election for 2019! What else do you want? Don't you want the election? Do you want the bad men to run the country again?" -rant out of his arse when February comes and goes without any sign of even lifting the ban for political gatherings.

If not this year, next year or the year after, we have to get everything right and in order, being at the top is not easy for the people of Thailand, someone with a general background has to apply order, and if not in 2021, we can make it after that, we will keep you informed one day at a time.

Right. For example, we could expect bombs to conveniently explode, weapons wrapped in red shirt flags to be found, or a resurrection of the Khon Khan circle

Que a "bomb" going off in a parking lot, with no damage whatsoever...in 5...4...3...

Debate, scrutiny, nobody likes me are the things that would cause a fight.

They make the laws that favor them.

Already blaming the media.

A sad excuse for a leader, even one that carries a gun and threatens the unarmed.

Rent a mob coming he seams to be following a certain Turk to become the East Asia's answer to a Sultan with special powers.?

So now is beginning the preparation for the next postponing! Now he is talking only about the year, so probably in the case will be a postpone, will be in another year and not in 2019!

I know a guy who can tell you about his satisfying experience with the Thai justice system:

Now take a wild guess who will ignite a fight. Could it be someone who wants to punch critics in the face?

A neighbor to the east shows what is in store for this country. So sad.

If he delays the election beyond the promised Feb 2019 date then conflicts will assuradly rise, not only within the country but internationally as well.

Ha, old PM Pinocchio is never gonna be a real man. Now, I wonder who he is going to choose for causing trouble? Not one of those 'new' political parties by any chance, ?

Thailand exists today because IN SPITE of it's justice system.

Seems like we've already seen this movie. Must be a re-run.

And who will describe as being a fight and determine what a fight will be?????

Mister P himself as life time occupant of PMs seat .

Good night Thailand, welcome North Korea

More like a re-run of a re-make of a re-boot.

There will be no election until he has all his ducks in a row,

enough MP's bought, enough cash spent on projects in Issan

to be insured of their votes, enough of the opposition jailed,

then and only then can the election take place,as he knows

if he does not win he's in trouble.
