Anyone who overstays , really needs to spend 30 days in Bangkok Hilton and then deported, I bet he will not do that again anywhere.

I think a chain gang response.

Imagine 30 of these overstay vermin chained together picking up fag butts along Pattaya beach. And invite the locals to hurl abuse at them.

Overstay 2 days; 2 days on the chain gang. 1 year over, then 365 days cleaning up the trash.

I see your point..chain gangs of foreigners..on the beaches or beside the major roads should drive the message home...

No-one has ever accused "Owl sees all" of not having a sense of humour...

As far as I am concerned it is 80 per day as reported by Asian Correspondent in 2015.

i just see all this over stay, stuff as Thailand just making a big deal out of nothing

and avoiding the real issues of crime here.

That is true..

I know "Owl" well from his posts on a long forgotten topic and he certainly has a wry sense of ?Cockney humour..

Otherwise,I agree with you and enjoy reading your posts.

Here is the Asian Correspondent link-I believe them rather than any shonky figures emanating (on any subject whatsoever) from Thailand..

What we still don't know is how he catches them ?

It's so easy to avoid cops and avoid showing your passport even if you meet them !

I think it can only be because of Thai snitches and because the guy on overstay spoke to much. It's something that even your wife and kids should not know, just as if you are a drug seller. The only thing that people cannot say is what they do not know... 1st rule from a past life...

Well I have to ask you Stanley Coin; would you rather pay 500 baht for a day's oversight or help clean up the fag butts for a day?

I know what I'd rather do!

PS; not just fag butts but plastic too.

Ok.

its an easy one.

I will stick will my post about retards.

and a victimless crime.

Have a nice day. :stoner:

Ps, Me clean up after the lazy sods here.

sure when Hell freezes over and satan has an icicle as a penis.

Well Stanley Coin, I hear what you say. And that's fine.

But for me, given the choice between handing over a hard earned 500 bhat to a smirking officer telling me that Thai law has to obeyed by everyone and doing a bit of environmental work; I would say "get out the leg irons".

Us English have standards to keep to.

Up to you and that's fine with me.

Yes us English do have standards.

But some of us have higher standards than others do. :jap:

This British Phuket guy was 53 , so he could have just applied for a 1 year visa, paying an agent 20k . Instead he choose to overstay , he must be hiding from something, good they caught him. Good guys in , bad guys out.

I am not decided yet. But. I reckon the British did a wrong-un selling Thailand their freedom for a measly 2 tons of rice.

I note that some of the British on this forum are already trying to downplay the actions of one of their own by belittling his breach of the law.

He figuratively gave Thailand his middle finger by deciding the rules didn't apply to him and overstayed by nearly three years. It wasn't an illness or memory slip that precipitated his lengthy overstay, it was a deliberate decision for reasons unclear to the observer.

He's 53, which means he was eligible to apply for a  retirement extension before he became illegal. Why didn't he? No money, a criminal background, or just couldn't be stuffed following the rules of the country?  He's almost certainly been working at the expense of a local (If he's the one I'm thinking of, his job could have been a Thais. I won't expand because I might have the wrong person in mind)

As someone who's made this country his home (however tenuous) and jumped through all the financial and reporting hoops, I feel only delight that another who has helped create those hoops will now find the next part of his life very uncomfortable.

Wow delight at someting like this. I wonder how you'd feel if they caught some real criminals?

I'm here legally mate. My income got nothing to do with Thailand. Just like your pension got nothing to do with Thailand. We both follow the law and have a proper visa.
