All,

 

My company is cancelling my work permit in Thailand and I am here on Non IMM  visa multiple entry valid till 2020. My wife is pregnant and in her 8th month. I would like to stay here till the baby is delivered. Is it possible to stay here for another 2-3 months even after the work permit is cancelled? Does immigration here entertain such requests? I can ask hospital to help with a letter.

It appears you have a extension of stay valid until 2020 issued by immigration not a visa from a embassy or consulate.

I assume you wife is also on extension of stay based upon yours.

You wife could get an extension for medical treatment with supporting documents from a doctor stating she cannot travel. You may also be able to get one one as her caregiver.

Thanks- Yes she also has extension of stay till 2020. So once my company cancels the WP what exactly should I do?

The first step is talk to the doctor and hospital. Some hospitals have staff that are aware of what is required for the extension.

Once prepared for the medical extensions you would have to cancel your current extensions in order to apply for the medical treatment extensions.

Where was your extension issued. Since it is a 2 year extension I suspect it was at the one stop center in Bangkok. If that is correct the medical treatment extension would have to be applied for at Chaeng Wattana immigration.

Yes it was issued in Bangkok ( Chamchuri Square). So once my WP is cancelled by company I need to get the letter from hospital and go to Chaeng wattana immigration? Do I also need to go to Chmachuri sqaure to get the original extension cancelled or the chaeng wattana immigration will do the needful. Also do I need to do on the day my WP is cancelled. I read somewhere that we only get 1 day to do all this. Thank you so much for your help.

Your extension will have to be canceled at the one stop center. Your work permit and extension can be canceled at the same time there. They might post date the extension a day or two to give you time to do the extension at Chaeng Wattana.
