Each of your 30 day visa exempt entries could be extended for 30 days so no need to leave after 30 days.

Unless you really want to make the trips out for visa exempt entries why not just get another tourist visa.

Dependent upon where you would be applying for it you might be able to get a multiple entry non-o visa for being over 50 that would allow unlimited 90 day entries for a year from the date of issue.

Another option would be get a OA long stay visa at the embassy in your home country that allows unlimited one year entries for a year from the date it is issued. You can get almost 2 years of total stay from it by doing an entry just before visa expires.

I already have my initial SETV. Don't I need 800,000 seasoned for a non o?

It only has to be in the bank on the date you apply for a non-o visa at immigration. Some embassies and consulate do not require financial proof to get a non-o visa for being 50 or over.

To apply for a one year extension of stay the 800k has to be in a Thai bank for 60 days for the first extension.

For OA visa it can remain in a bank in your home country when you apply for it. Requirements here. http://www.mfa.go.th/main/en/services/4908/15385-Non-Immigrant-Visa-"O-A"-(Long-Stay).html
