A heart surgeon has made a Facebook plea for a thief to return a pair of special goggles he needs to perform life-saving operations.

Doctor Thiti Chanmayka, heart, artery and chest surgeon of Khon Kaeb-based Srinagarind Hospital, published the post on Thursday, urging anyone who has the goggles to return them.

He said that his residence at Khon Kaen University was broken into on August 6 and the thief took the goggles.

“The goggles are essential for saving the lives of patients,” the doctor said in the post.

He added that they are customised so only he can wear them.

The post has so far been shared more than 19,000 times.

Lazada, eBay, or AliExpress $7.99 delivered.

I imagine the thief gave them to his kids as a Toy.

I'm sure he can afford to customise another pair... but shame on the thief !!

But tough luck for somebody waiting for life saving surgery,

maybe offering a reward,no questions asked would give him,

better results than trying to appeal to the thieves compassion.

Game over, thief. You will not be able to perform any heart surgery wearing them.

customized for visual acuity surgical glasses just means they have Rx to fit his refraction.

Thanks to the power of social media, the police on Friday returned to a cardiac surgeon a pair of special goggles that were stolen during a burglary in Khon Kaen province.

Dr Thiti Chanmayka, a cardiac surgeon at Sirikit Heart Centre of the Northeast, posted on Facebook, asking the thief to return the googles. He wrote that he needed to use the goggles, that cost about Bt80,000, to perform life-saving operations.  The doctor said his residence at Khon Kaen University was broken into on August 6.

“The goggles are essential for saving the lives of patients,” the doctor posted. He added that they are customised so only he can wear them. The post went viral.

The thief sold the goggles at a pawn shop in the province and the owner contacted the police.

Police said they knew the identity of the thief and expected to have an arrest warrant issued soon.

The doctor said the goggles were not damaged and he was very happy that he got them back within 24 hours.
