Nongprue council slams inaction on trash hauler

PATTAYA:--The Nongprue Council slammed the sub-district’s Public Health Department for sitting on 30 million baht it was supposed to use to hire a private garbage hauler.

The council in 2016 approved Public Health’s request to spend 10 million baht a year for three years to hire a private firm to haul away garbage in the sub-district’s Area 1. But three years later still no firm has been hired.

At an Aug. 15 meeting, Councilman Somchai Chimwiset demanded that public health Director Surapol Krimprasert explain why the department sat on the funds, depriving other units of funding when it was never used.

Somchai claimed the department tried to hire a contractor, but had to study what other sub-districts did and follow their steps and were never able to find a suitable company.

He vowed, however, that if the council grants his request for another 14 million baht for 2019, a company will be hired in short order, as the request also covered removal of hazardous waste.

14 million baht, that's a nice piece of pocket money for someone. I live in Nongprue municipality and my message to councillors is this get off your fat asses and put this contract out to Tender  immediately and then get someone who is qualified to peruse the tenders and select the most competent tenderer not necessarily the  cheapest but the most qualified. It  would appear you have no one qualified in council to do this job so get someone who knows what their doing and stop wasting taxpayers money

the way that reads is that none of the other sub-districts found a suitable company either
