Long delays - VFS Bangkok

Featured Replies

My gf is sat in the Trendy office building waiting to submit her visit visa application, she has been there 4 hours now. If you are travelling from outside Bangkok and need to return home the same day you may be disappointed. What a shocking system!

Last time and this time my wife said it is a 'bit' slow. Maybe around the 2 to 3 hour mark. She booked 10.30, got there about 10 I think, and was seen about 11 or after.

We always book the early appointment.............in and out in under an hour in July.

Is their "wonderful" passport renewal service for us Brits similarly affected?

not sure, I wouldn't be expecting anything to improve.

Previous applications were about an hour, maybe the scanning process has slowed things down. Four hours is unacceptable.

I have written a letter of complaint but I don't expect any accountability, they will probably charge me for a reply.

My passport renewal appointment was for 1pm, I turned up at 12:45 and was out of there by 12:55.

That was on 20 August and the passport is now sitting with VFS awaiting collection.

Do VFS operate physically separate offices for their visa and passport renewal operations (which could well explain the contrasting experiences)? For instance, I gather that the passport renewal office has relocated from the 28th to the 8th floor. But might the visa office still be located on the 28th floor?

Yes. They operate separately. The delays in the visa section are no doubt connected to the need to scan everything for the ECOs in India (since June 2018). The passport service remains the same, and is normally very efficient and quick.
