Jewels stolen from newsreader

BANGKOK: -- A television news announcer was robbed of over B1 million worth of jewellery on Tuesday night when an unknown number of assailants smashed her car window and stole her handbag, police said yesterday.

Promporn Yuwavej, a popular Channel 3 announcer, told police she accompanied a friend to the Hotel Plaza Athenee on Tuesday night to attend a wedding reception.

After the event, where she acted as master of ceremonies, Promporn returned to the hotel car park to find that the window of her brand-new Mercedes had been smashed and her handbag was missing.

She claimed the handbag contained three pairs of earrings and a luxury watch worth Bt1.3 million.

She told investigators at Bangkok's Lumpini police station that the bag also contained a bank passbook and four cashier's cheques.

Promporn said the car's |security alarm had failed to |react when the window was smashed.

Colonel Suwat Jangyodsuk, superintendent of Lumpini police station, said detectives would monitor suspicious groups, particularly a foreign gang with a record of similar thefts.

Sounds like they are looking for the RUSKIES again,, and anyone is a fool for leaving anything of value in a car, unless it is locked in the trunk and out of site.

And a special fool if they think that a car alarm will ever be payed any attention,,only time anyone even hears it is if is bothering them and then they just say " I sure wish someone would shut that ###### thing off"

Do you think they have a theft insurance that pays off on anything here? :o 555

I can't eat or do anything now I am so upset.

Is there anywhere we can send money to so we can get this "newsreader" her tools of her trade back?

I mean this is urgent, the troubles in the south pale into insignificance compared to disasters like this.

This my fellow readers is serious and is no joking matter.

Far too many celebrities are getting turned over and having stuff of sentimental value knocked off.

I should imagine the gear was very close to her heart if not physically,

as she left it in the motor but that's not the point.

Some time ago in the U.K. an "entertainer" well thats how Cilla Black describes herself ( and no I don't why she is not dead yet either) had a very similar experience.

The house she lives in on a very famous estate, neighbours Bruce "nice to see the back of you nice" Forsythe, game show host and zombie.

Even General Pinochet rented a gaff there for a time.

Our Cilla got turned over and had a million pounds worth of stuff stolen,no they didn't take the house or furniture but cash and tom foolery.

Now I am sure all this was declared to the taxman and all above board, this is bye the bye a hard working woman was robbed.

I was here in Thailand at the time( so you can't pin this one on me guvner) but my friends in the U.K. were very upset at her loss.

In the pub that weekend a collection was made and the tight sods gave were three used cigarette butts, a ripped beer mat and a chipped marble.

So I think it is time we had a whip round for this newsreader.

With the best will in the world the ripping off of celebrities is no laughing matter, please it's not, stop smirking at the back.

These people give up everything to be celebrities so they can "entertain" us.

Spare a thought for these people they slog there guts out two or three days a month for about the money most ( and I believe Maddona calls us "civillians" ) get in a lifetime.

They are away from their families ( I for one would pay good money to get away from mine) they have to stay in the best hotels have to put up with being driven around in luxury vehicles, being forced to eat at the best restaurants all the while risking their precious eyesight with the incessant flash photography O.K.OK. I know their publicity agent told the paparazzi where they would be but that't not the point.

Take Naomi Campbell (please) she said she would not get out of bed in the mornings for less than $10,000 which begs the question "How much does it cost to get her in it in the first place?"

I am sorry but not enough of our vital resources are being put into celebriety welfare.
