After speaking to a representative at my local TRD office on Friday, as a tax resident, we are expected to file a return whether we have assessable income or not -- whether we owe or not. -

Standard procedures in a lot of tax jurisdictions. If you do not provide evidence the IRS makes a guess of how much you earned and rest assured it is the worst case. -

TRD doesn't plan to micro manage the movements of all foreigners in Thailand and start counting days for each of them. No country's Revenue does that, it only comes into play if your areaudited or queried about your return. -

I don't have a point, was only responding to JG's comment. You'll be hard o0ressed to get a TIN without first having a long stay visa and secondly, demonstrating a need. Many have tried, many have failed because they don't meet that criteria. -

One of the big advantages of using a credit card is that it does not show up on the immediate radar of TRD. So even if you can perfectly prove you pay your cc debt with funds from before 2024 you do not need to prove it and it also saves you the hassle of printing out tons of documents etc. -

There's a great YouTube by physicist Sabine Hossenfelder that explains it pretty well. It's titled My dream died, and now I'm here. I can't post a link because YouTube's blocked here, but it's easy enough to find by artist and title. I downloaded the video and that's how I know the title. Basically, she discusses the process behind getting funding to do meaningful research in physics, and how it's been corrupted by corporate money. She specifically talks about physics, but it's the same with health care, and pretty much any subject where there are corporate and political interests controlling which research gets funded and which gets squelched. -

How to I get rid of this new left hand sidebar?
My method: I began reading AN on the PC browser in reduced windows size (width) not full size. Just fiddle and the annoying sidebar p.sses off. You have to fiddle with window width and zoom factor in the browser. I have reduced the screenshot size for readability: -
