A deservedly proud lady I guess to be sure.

The lady in question with her great-grand daughter at our christmas 2017 party.

I am certainly one to laud the bravery of these military men, a vastly superior force and they had no knowledge of the situation, fought bravely, what is not to applaude?

The decisions of the government probably saved hundreds of thousands of lives to what end?

I believe they could see the futility of resistance and served their country as they believed was in its best interests.

Sure, it may not suit the narrative of heroism we all love but it was probably the best outcome for the nation.

More a misunderstanding of communication.
All other provinces and landing points of the Japanese invaders surrendered.
Did the radio not work?
Wouldn't surprise me here...

I believe the Garrison at Hua Hin pushed the Japanese back too until ordered to cease hostilities. Like most SE Asian Countries occupied by japan Once the japanese revealed their true intention resistance grew quickly

Isn't it a shame that this country did not show the debt of gratitude to her and  ones like her who risked their lives against Imperialist Japan.  Her and those like her deserved much much more  recognition for what they did, and what did they get ?  not mention in a single Thai history book.  Brave lady and many more of her generation.
