A Chiang Mai monk who set up charities to aid the mentally-ill, alcoholics, people living with HIV/Aids and the underprivileged, country singer Akkharadet “Kong Huayrai” Yodjumpa who organised and ran a marathon to raise funds for a Sakhon Nakhon hospital, and traditional-medicine doctor Saengchai “Mor Saeng” Haelerttrakul, known for distributing his herbal tonic for free to cancer victims in Prachin Buri, were among many outstanding people honoured on Monday at the prestigious Thaen Khun Phaendin 2018 awards.

Secretary-general of the Chaipattana Foundation, Sumet Tantivejkul, presented the awards, which recognise people for their good deeds, public service and charitable contributions – during a ceremony at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre in Bangkok.

As well as 77 recipients representing each province of Thailand, 10 others also received the new-generation Thaen Khun Phaendin awards and the “Khon Thai Jai Asa” awards, the latter of which was being handed out for the first time. Fifteen of the recipients were from the North, 20 from the Northeast, 28 from the Central and East, and 24 from the South.

Unbelievable!

This is, of course a good step in the right direction, & am especially pleased to see people with MH issues being 'recognised' - if that's the correct word.

As for 'Mor Saeng' & his herbal tonic... ?

I'd  say he can use it on those mental health people I mean you'd  have to be mentally  ill to believe his rubbish, I expect he does  lotto  numbers as well as predicting the future.

I call BS on this, what about me?

I am outstanding:cheesy::cheesy:

Nice uplifting report.

Cheers!!

Good to see so many role models being honoured.  No police I note.

The invitation list was incomplete. No "honest cabby" and police officer guiding old folks across the street honored. The award for the herbal quack doctor degrades the entire event to another "big joke".

I must confess that I bought a bottle of this tonic, for ...err...

'increasing one's vitality', you might say.?

I failed to rise to the occasion, & was 1200bt poorer.

Tasted alright though. ?

Hey,Do you mean that if I mix up a bunch of herbs and chemicals at home ,.bottle and label it,openly give some away to the cancer wards in the hospitals (thus selling more in the open market hehehe) like this "Self Titled" Dr Mor Saang, then I will be officially recognized by the government also? In the 1800s  in the old Western Territories in The US ,we called these fakes "Snake Oil" salesmen.

#137 in the list of things that the Junta has only thought to do in election year . . . Mmm . . . I wonder why they seem so much better at government, this year.

Weren't  you supposed to rub it  in your private parts,   not drink it ? ?
