106 motorcyclists arrested in Samut Prakan with illegally modified bikes

By The Nation

Police arrested 106 motorcyclists and seized 118 motorcycles illegally modified for road racing, deputy tourist police chief Pol Maj Gen Surachet Hakpal said on Saturday.

Surachet said the arrests were made Friday night by police manning checkpoints on several roads in Samut Prakan to crack down on road racing.

Of the 106 arrested, 27 were under 18 years old, Surachet said.

He said three of the arrested people also tested positive for drug abuse and three others were arrested with a small amount of methamphetamine pills and crystal meth in their possession.

Nothing to do with tourists at all.

It seems the normal (or abnormal) police aren't interested in doing their job, so it's a Big Joke job now.

Or how about Thai Racing Water Trucks with resonators on their mufflers? Or Thai Racing Gravel Trucks? Or Thai racing Hi-Way haulers?

We have seen all this happen in the past. Until the RTP make an example of these ones caught, then nothing will change!

"Deterrent sentencing" does not seem to compute, with Thai authorities. :post-4641-1156693976:

Can anyone on this forum say what an illegally modified motorcycle is ?  Is it illegal to up rate a bike when your insurance company has been told

In my town you have to take a special test for bikes for 250 and over.

I do wish they would do a round up in my town. The noise coming out of piffling bikes is insane. Every evening a 747 takes off outside my house...I can't actually see it, just 20 or 30 Honda Waves with young kids on them.

Not very smart modifying a bike with loud mufflers. Better to just change the camshaft and re jet the carburetor. That way it wouldn't attract the police. But I do agree these loud bikes are more than annoying.

Your town is in Thailand ?

If this can be done in Samut Prakan why can't the police forces across Thailand follow suit...... Mr Prime Minister ?
