For First Time, Prayuth Confirms ‘Interest’ In Politics

Junta chairman Prayuth Chan-ocha speaks to reporters Monday

 

BANGKOK — Ditching the evasive non-answers he’s given for months, junta chairman Prayuth Chan-ocha on Monday for the first time confirmed he’s interested in a political career.

 

Gen. Prayuth told reporters at the Government House he has yet to decide which party or who he will support, even as he maintained he will not quit his powerful posts as prime minister and junta chief while he mulls his political allegiance.

He's built quite a political career already, evading answering awkward questions.

 

“Since he says he’s interested, I think there will be many parties that are interested in inviting him, too,” Suchart said. “It’s up to him to decide.”

 

What about the ones that don't invite the PM? Will that anger him, and to quote him on that subject, "punch them in the face"?

Well, let's face it . . . he did convert from soldier to politician, way back in January. Or maybe it's taken since then for the playful one to understand the seriousness of 'politician'. Perhaps better for all concerned if he simply admitted that he was still a child, struggling to decide which fancy dress costume to wear.

PM for 4 years but wasn't interested in politics. Well, at least that explains his performance.

I doubt if we'll see him as Superman, although he might see himself like that.

He will leave his final confirmation for as long as he can. Because then he will be required to follow the same rules he has imposed on others. No advantage in that for him; so later the better.

No, it was money and money, alone. He was only interested - paranoid, more like - in stopping PTP-enabled funds, largely generated via elite/establishment taxes, etc, heading out into the sticks, towards us poor people. Yet, remembering whose payroll he [et al] was/is on. 

The "coup" - or any coup, for that matter - was not independently orchestrated. They were ask to intervene, per usual.

Wonder if this is related to the recent poll putting him in front of all candidates for the real PM position?

Now's the time Thailand needs him most I hope he will consider staying on as PM in order to help the people. 

Doesn't he have to be out of military service for a period of time before being allowed to run as politician or president.. or has he changed the rules on that too ??
